A Day of Nashville Local Hangouts | Nashville Events

Breakfast: Frothy Monkey

Frothy Monkey bills itself as “A neighborhood coffeehouse and so much more.” Their breakfast menu consists of organic foods and local ingredients prepared fresh daily. It’s tempting to order based only on the names of the plates: The Bill, The Bob, The Plain Jane, The Fancy Jane, or Tennessee French (Toast That Is).

Caney Fork River | Nashville Waterfront

Today on our Nashville Waterfront series we are featuring the Caney Fork River. The 143 mile-long Caney Fork is one of the major streams draining the Cumberland Plateau and a major tributary of the Cumberland River.

The Caney Fork rises in Cumberland County and flows northwest to the Cumberland River where it rises in Cumberland County, about six miles west north-west of Crossville. At the confluence of the Caney River, Collins River and Rocky River is Great Falls Lake – a beautiful area where canoes and kayaks are often found.

Mixed-Use Development Underway in Melrose Neighborhood | Nashville Developments

The Melrose neighborhood in Nashville will soon be home to a new mixed-use development. The Franklin Pike property that was once home to the Melrose Theatre and Melrose Lanes bowling alley is undergoing redevelopment for a mixed-use project, to be called “The Melrose.”

The project is a joint venture of Parkes Development Group and Fulcher Investment Properties. Their proposal from last year included retaining the existing building (the former home of the Melrose Theatre) and reconfiguring it for restaurant, retail and around 5,000 square feet of office space. They also included plans for 214 apartment units to be housed in two additions to the original building and in a separate four story building that is to be constructed behind the existing structure.
